THE Fall 2010 COUNCIL MEETINGS WILL BE HELD IN EAST PEORIA, ILLINOIS.                                        

Delegates,
This is a reminder that the fall meetings of the Inter-Union Wet/Dry Corn Milling Council will be held in East Peoria at the Embassy Suites Conference Center the week of September 12th.  The hotel address is 100 Conference Center Drive, East Peoria, IL.

The rooms are not guaranteed and are on a first come first serve basis, so be sure to get a reservation made if you have not already done so.  The rooms are $119 plus tax per day.

LOCAL 483 HAS BEEN A PROUD MEMBER OF THIS FINE COUNCIL SINCE 1971:

Working Together Since 1965

" The one most single factor that caused the formation of the Council was the need to exchange information by the various Locals pertaining to wages and fringe benefits."

Some History:
        *      
1965- Council was created with 13 Locals from three International Unions
        *      
1971- RWDSU Local 483 Cardinal, became a member of this Council
        *      
1972- The Council represented 95% of all wet milling plants in the United States and Canada.
        *      
1989- United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 617 join Council (Casco Co. London)
        *      
1990- Council celebrates 25 years of progress totaling 24 Locals and 8 International Unions
        *      
2001- (Spring - Kansas City, MI.) Local 483 attended along with 18 other Local Union's, and over 40 delegates
        *      
2001- (Fall - Nashville, Tennessee) Attended by Local 483
        *      
2003- (Spring - Lafayette, IA.) Local 483 attended along with 20 other Local Union's, and over 40 delegates
        *      
2004- (Fall - London, Ont. CAN.) Attended by Local 483
    
*   2005- (Spring - Cedar Rapids, Iowa) Attended by Local 483 along with 20 other Local Union's.
    
*   2006- (Fall - Corpus Christi, Texas) Attended by Local 483 along with 14 other Local Union's.

About the Council:

*       The Corn Council actually started in 1953 and came together with a handshake agreement. Became “International-Union” with more Union's joining in 1965.

*       There is no Constitution or By-laws. The Council has Policies, Resolutions and a number of Committees. The Conferences are hosted time to time by each Local.
