LOCAL 483 NOTICE BOARD

 

 

 

Children’s Christmas Party - Saturday December 4, 2010

It has been confirmed that it will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Cardinal and start at 10:30am.

Again this year and in each of the last 8-years, organizers have called on H&S Express to entertain the children.

H&S Express is a three-member band, playing children's music, and music that includes kid's participation.

Santa Clause is also expected to drop in to visit with the children.

All CASCO employee's children and grandchildren are welcomed to attend and take part in the entertainment that H&S Express provide.

Parents, Grandparents and children are always treated for lunch with hotdogs, drinks, chips and soft drinks. Kids also receive a gift bag from Santa.

Pensioners are always welcomed with their grandchildren as well.

Please watch the bulletin boards for an information poster.

So that arrangements for gift bags and lunch can be made, it is asked that people please contact organizers in advance on the number of people attending.

 

 

Local 483 Committees

 

Grievance Committee:
Union President, Chairman of the Grievance Committee, Chief Steward and Zone Steward concerned, attend grievance meeting on behalf of members at the Plant Managers meeting.

Publicity Committee:
This committee is responsible for notifying members of meetings and special events and for the publication of the Local 483 Newsletter each month.

Goodwill Committee:
This committee takes care of good times and bad. They provide flowers or donations in the event of bereavement, they provide best wishes and gifts for the sick and injured, they are also involved in celebrating retirements and other goodwill events.

Benefits and Pension Committee:
This committee was set up so that membership could also go to the Union for information when considering retirement. There are many options to choose from, committee members are up-to-date and knowledgeable on all aspects of the Pension Plan. This committee is also busy with STD leave, LTD and other benefits available to membership.

Recreation Committee:
The Recreation Committee is responsible for activities and celebrations. Most noteworthy, they host the village's children's and adult races on Labour Day weekend, they hold the annual Local 483 membership festivities and celebration on Labour Day weekend. They hold a Children's Christmas party each year and are also involved in organizing retirement parties.

Finance Committee:
This committee does an internal audit of the Local Unions financial books on a bi-yearly basis. They also give approval on any financial decisions and make sure that a financial audit is conducted by a Chartered Accountant each year.

Safety Committee and WSIB Rep:
The members of this committee work on behalf of membership with concerns that they may have with regards to health and safety issues. They also work closely with the Company safety committee members to insure that everyone has a safe environment to work in.

Our WSIB representative is up-to-date and knowledgeable and has been a great asset to membership and the Executive Board.

Training and Development:
This committee works on a wide variety of things. They provide training and information to union officers and new employees. They make suggestions to the Executive Board on, training seminars, conventions and union affiliated courses that are important to stewards and other Local 483 committee members.

This committee also works with the community, they provide donations and funding to several organizations, schools and different community groups and functions.
